can you make zazzle designs just for you

By Jen & Elke Clarke

Sell on Zazzle with One Zazzle Store

One of the questions we often hear from our students is: "Is it possible to sell on Zazzle successfully with just one store?"

Zazzle has thousands of different products you can add your designs to and covers so many niches, from art and photography to occasions and home decor. It's no surprise that you feel confused about whether you should have one store for each of the niches you want to serve, or whether it's possible to serve more than one niche in a single store.

In this article, we will help you answer the question: "One store or more stores for success on Zazzle?"

Sell on Zazzle with One Store or More? Decide on Your Niche(s)

The first thing you need to do when you are deciding whether to sell on Zazzle with one store or multiple stores is to determine your niche. We recommend to our students that they choose a niche (or multiple niches) that relates to their interests and style rather than by following a popular trend. A mistake many designers make is to choose a niche based on what is popular in the Zazzle marketplace, like girly glitter for example, even if they don't resonate with that niche. When you try to target a niche you are not familiar with it can make it difficult to create products that will sell well.

If you haven't chosen a niche yet, or you want to make sure that the niches you've picked will give you a good chance to be successful, you should read our article on how to find your niche . You can also use our free worksheet to help you choose the niche or niches you want to build out in your store(s). Sell on Zazzle with One Store or More? One Store Many Niches

Sell on Zazzle

We assume that you are here because you can't decide on just one niche that you want to serve in your Zazzle business. That's ok. One of the benefits of designing Print on Demand (POD) products with Zazzle is that there is no financial outlay. You don't have to purchase materials, stock or pay for a store-front or website, and this gives you the ability to make designs and post products in multiple niches at once.

It is possible to sell on Zazzle with just one single store that covers many niches, as long as there is a common theme that ties them together. Your ultimate goal is that your store has a cohesive feel and makes sense to the customer. For example, if your design style for your store is minimal you could sell products in occasions, business and home decor niches all in one store. Each niche would sit in its own category and your design style would be the overarching theme. If possible, we recommend using one Zazzle store so that you can work smarter not harder while achieving your dream earnings goal.

Sell on Zazzle with One Store or More? When Should You Have More Than One Zazzle Store?

If you have chosen multiple niches that don't have a common theme it would be more appropriate to dedicate one Zazzle store to each niche.

A good example of this is if you choose to serve the politics niche and also create wedding invitation suites. These are two separate niches with no common theme to link them together and therefore you would create two separate stores. Even though this is more work, having 2 stores, the customer is better served with you presenting your designs in two stores. You will make more sales and be more profitable using this 2 store approach in this example.

Sell on Zazzle with One Store or More? Pros and Cons

If you have multiple niches that you want to serve it can be tempting to just jump in and create one store per niche because opening multiple stores on Zazzle is easy to do and doesn't cost you any money.

You need to keep in mind that the management of multiple stores isn't as easy as you might think. Each store on Zazzle is awarded a zRank score, and there are many tasks you need to complete to reach a good zRank store. This can be very time consuming if you have multiple stores. You want to work smarter not harder. Building up multiple stores is more work. As long as you have an overarching theme it can be very beneficial to serve multiple niches within one store. We teach our students how to create one profitable Zazzle store with multiple niches and provide guidance if one store is not possible in our signature course The Profit by Design Academy™ .

Sell on Zazzle with One Store or More? Diamond Zazzle ProDesigner Strategy

Over the past 14 years, we have created many different stores on Zazzle to serve many different niches. We learned the hard way that it takes a lot of time and effort to keep each store fresh and to maximize the sales from our bestsellers in each store.

This is why we, as Diamond and Gold Zazzle ProDesigners, recommend to all of our students that they start with just one store, even if they want to serve multiple niches. When you use an appropriate store name and set up your categories in the right way you will give yourself the best possible chance to sell on Zazzle successfully using ONE store. If you can't make one store work for you, start with one, work it up and then work up your second store.

Sell on Zazzle: Summary

The question we answered in this article  was "Is it possible to sell on Zazzle successfully with just one store?" Yes!

While there are occasions where multiple stores on Zazzle can be the best way to serve your customers, our experience shows that you can be successful on Zazzle with just one store, even if you serve multiple niches.
